About The Position

The Bakery Manager oversees the bakery’s overall operations and success, including maximizing gross margins, driving sales production, and controlling inventory and expenses. The role provides high-quality products and customer service, performs bakery duties, applies basic cake-decorating skills, and ensures daily operations maintain appropriate stock, inventory, and cleanliness. The manager works within company programs, policies, and procedures; promotes sales and established programs; and follows sanitation, health-code, and safety requirements. The Bakery Manager trains and develops the bakery team and directly supervises Associates. Supervisory duties include interviewing, hiring, training, planning and assigning work, directing and appraising performance, rewarding and coaching Associates, and addressing complaints and resolving problems. The position is also responsible for budgeted sales, gross profit, labor, and CTO. A Manager Food Handlers Certificate is provided at store level. The role involves frequent standing and walking, handling and reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, communicating, and lifting or moving items up to 15 pounds. Overhead lifting, climbing, balancing, and lifting or moving items up to 25 pounds are required frequently; sitting, crawling, smelling, and lifting or moving items up to 50 pounds are required occasionally. The work environment includes frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and occasional exposure to electrical-shock risk, wet or humid conditions, extreme cold, and cleaning chemicals. Noise levels are moderate. For Illinois locations, the pay range is $20 to $29 per hour, depending on industry experience. Starting pay is based on experience, internal equity, and scope of responsibility. Position requirements may vary by store location, and Niemann Foods Management may change or add requirements.

Requirements

Two years of experience in a bakery management role.
Leadership, baking, customer-service, communication, problem-solving, and prioritization and multitasking skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; detail orientation and adaptability.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from managers, customers, or Associates.
Ability to use supermarket math, including arithmetic, percentages, distribution, penetration, gross profit, and Sales Per Associate Hour.
Manager Food Handlers Certificate; provided at store level.
Ability to meet the stated physical demands and work-environment conditions.

Responsibilities

Provide amazing customer service and the highest-quality products.
Perform all aspects of bakery duties, including applying basic cake-decorating skills.
Meet budgeted sales, gross profit, labor, and CTO responsibilities.
Work within company programs, policies, and procedures; promote and support established programs.
Train and develop the bakery team.
Follow the sanitation program and health-code guidelines.
Manage day-to-day operations to maintain stock levels, inventory, and cleanliness.
Promote sales.
Follow store and department policies and procedures, and model compliance with safety policies and procedures.
Directly supervise Associates, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning and assigning work, directing and appraising performance, rewarding and coaching, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Perform other duties as assigned.
