County Market Assistant Bakery Manager
About The Position
The County Market Assistant Bakery Manager/Bakery Manager Trainee assists with managing bakery department operations, including maximizing gross margins, ensuring sales production, controlling inventory, ordering and expenses, and building product knowledge. The role is intended for someone who wants to become a bakery manager. The assistant manager helps oversee daily department operations, supports customer satisfaction, checks product quality, maintains stock and cleanliness, promotes sales, and trains and develops associates. The position also assists the Bakery Manager with supervising associates, including training, planning, assigning, and directing work. Employees follow company, store, department, health-code, and safety policies and procedures; other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Customer service skills.
- Good communication skills, including the ability to read and interpret business and technical materials, write reports and business correspondence, and present information and respond to questions.
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, percentages, distribution, penetration, gross profit, and Sales per Associate Hour.
- Food Handler’s Certification as required by state law; provided at store level.
- Ability to stand, walk, handle and feel objects, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, communicate, and lift or move up to 25 pounds regularly; perform overhead lifting, climb, balance, and lift or move up to 50 pounds frequently; and sit, crawl, smell, and lift or move up to 100 pounds occasionally.
- Vision abilities include close and distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, focus adjustment, and color distinction.

Responsibilities
- Deliver superior guest service and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Assist the Bakery Manager with overall management of the department.
- Know the use and taste of products.
- Perform quality-assurance checks throughout the department.
- Handle and rotate products properly.
- Follow company programs, policies, and procedures.
- Carry out daily operational procedures to maintain stock levels, inventory, and cleanliness.
- Promote sales and offer samples.
- Teach, train, and develop associates.
- Follow all Health Code guidelines.
- Follow all store and department policies and procedures.
- Follow safety policies and procedures and serve as a safety role model.
- Assist the Bakery Manager in supervising associates, including training, planning, assigning, and directing work.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
