About The Position

The Bakery Department Lead drives sales and supervises hourly associates to deliver a strong member experience. The role models bakery expertise and works with other team leaders to help the club meet member expectations. It oversees bakery operations, including production, inventory, staffing, merchandise presentation, food safety, sanitation, equipment use, quality, and compliance with company and regulatory standards. The lead uses digital and handheld tools to plan production, make business decisions, improve the shopping experience, and support associate engagement. The role also trains and develops associates, supports talent sourcing and career growth, and collaborates with managers, coworkers, customers, and business partners to implement effective processes and improve results. The position requires completing required job training and assessments within the prescribed period.

Requirements

At least 6 months of experience in a bakery production department or at least 6 months of experience supervising a team.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Must successfully complete required job trainings and assessments within the prescribed time period if selected.

Nice To Haves

Bakery production experience, including decorating.
Experience supervising associates.
Food Handler Certification (Food Safety).

Responsibilities

Supervise the Bakery team to meet the department business plan, execute company programs, follow policies, and support members, associates, and the company.
Collaborate with other team leaders to help ensure the club meets member expectations.
Maintain knowledge of bakery floor and backroom operations, product specifications, and seasonality.
Ensure the department meets company and regulatory standards for product quality, inventory, equipment usage, production, safety, sanitation, and compliance.
Share knowledge and train team members on products, recipes, and production specifications; ensure they have what they need to do their jobs effectively.
Use digital and handheld tools to plan and drive sales, improve the shopping experience, support associate engagement, and make decisions about production, training, and product quality.
Drive business results and operational excellence by maintaining a neat, clean, and safe work area; planning and staffing for weekly bakery volumes; and maintaining consistency in quality, food safety, and company policies.
Maintain accurate inventory, audit, and compliance standards, and produce and display merchandise according to the merchandise layout plan.
Identify training needs, develop team skills, encourage career growth, and source talent internally and externally.
Develop, communicate, and implement processes and practices by collaborating with relevant partners, analyzing information, monitoring results, and addressing improvement opportunities.
Promote compliance with company policies, procedures, ethics, and integrity standards; support action plans and assist management with ethical or compliance issues.
Lead and participate in teams by coordinating work assignments, sharing resources and information, supporting work quality and timelines, and helping others adapt to change.
