About The Position

99 Ranch Market is hiring for its San Jose bakery department. The role may involve bakery-clerk duties and, depending on the position assigned, baker or cake-decorator duties. Bakery clerks assist with preparing ingredients, packaging and displaying products, stocking and rotating inventory, monitoring expiration dates, serving customers, and handling checkout when assigned. Bakers prepare and bake products according to recipes and quality standards, operate bakery equipment, monitor product quality, and maintain product levels. Cake decorators prepare and decorate cakes and other bakery products, fulfill customer orders, and assist customers with product and design selections. General duties include receiving and organizing deliveries, maintaining a clean and safe work area, following food-safety and sanitation procedures, handling expired or damaged products as instructed, minimizing waste, protecting department assets, participating in demonstrations and promotions when assigned, and supporting coworkers and department operations. The schedule is flexible and may include weekends and holidays based on department and training needs.

Nice To Haves

Previous bakery, baking, cake-decorating, food-preparation, retail, or customer-service experience is preferred.
Baker and Cake Decorator candidates should have relevant experience or knowledge related to the position.

Responsibilities

Assist with preparing raw materials according to recipes and supervisor instructions.
Wrap and package bakery products accurately and efficiently according to customer requests.
Ensure products have appropriate signage and are displayed according to company standards.
Stock and replenish shelves, rotate products using FIFO, and monitor expiration dates; remove expired or damaged products from displays.
Greet customers, answer questions, and provide customer service.
Follow cash-handling procedures and complete checkout accurately when assigned.
Prepare bakery products according to approved recipes, procedures, and quality standards.
Measure, mix, form, cut, shape, proof, and bake dough and other bakery products.
Operate bakery equipment safely and according to established procedures.
Monitor baking times, temperatures, freshness, appearance, and product quality.
Maintain product levels and prepare additional products based on business needs.
Follow food-safety, sanitation, labeling, and product-rotation requirements.
Prepare, frost, decorate, and finish cakes and other bakery products according to company standards.
Complete customer cake orders accurately and within the required timeframe.
Apply decorative elements such as borders, flowers, designs, and writing according to customer requests.
Assist customers with cake selections, designs, sizes, flavors, and special orders.
Store, label, rotate, and display finished products properly.
Unload and break down deliveries and maintain an organized stockroom.
Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe working environment.
Follow company policies, food-safety procedures, sanitation requirements, and applicable government regulations.
Handle expired, damaged, or recalled products according to supervisor instructions.
Use ingredients and materials efficiently to minimize waste.
Help safeguard department products, supplies, equipment, and other company assets.
Participate in product demonstrations and promotional activities when assigned.
Work cooperatively with supervisors and team members and perform other duties as assigned based on business needs.
