About The Position

The Bakery Clerk at Sprouts Farmers Market prepares, bakes, packages, prices, and merchandises baked goods while supporting the Bakery Manager. The role provides customer service and ensures bakery items are properly prepared, packaged, and presented. It also involves maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary department; stocking and rotating products; and receiving and inspecting shipments. The position requires working in a fast-paced team environment and following food safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent, plus 1–2 years of bakery experience, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
• Be dependable and reliable, with the ability to work a changing, flexible schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Demonstrate friendly, outgoing behavior, a positive attitude, and the ability to interact with customers.
• Have good communication skills and the ability to take direction and work as part of a team.
• Be able to stand continuously for up to 3 hours and for a total of 8 hours per shift.
• Be able to vertically transfer trays weighing up to 5 lbs. from 7 to 64 inches for up to 10 hours.
• Be able to transfer items weighing up to 40 lbs. vertically and horizontally from 5 to 36 inches, over distances up to 36 feet, for up to 10 hours without mechanical assistance.
• Adhere to safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations and achieve and maintain a Food Handlers permit.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, bake, package, price, and merchandise bakery goods, assisting the Bakery Manager as needed.
• Provide a high level of customer service and ensure bakery items are prepared, packaged, and presented properly.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary bakery area and equipment, including cleaning shelves and products, keeping floors free of spills and hazardous debris, and sweeping.
• Stock, fill, and face products; verify pricing; monitor product rotation; and discard outdated or spoiled items.
• Receive, inspect, and log products for shipment accuracy, temperature, and quality.
• Perform general housekeeping and clean and sanitize work areas, including tables, floors, walls, cases, coolers, and freezers.
• Answer phones and take special orders.
• Operate equipment and tools as needed, including knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks; accurately weigh and label products.
• Follow safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations and obtain and maintain a Food Handlers permit.
