Bakery Clerk/Barista
About The Position
Metropolitan Market is seeking a food-loving, service-oriented team member for its Bakery/Coffee Shop Department. The role delivers an exceptional guest experience by sharing product knowledge, supporting bakery and coffee shop sales, and maintaining clean, well-stocked, visually compelling displays. Team members balance routine preparation, stocking, cleaning, and display maintenance with immediate guest needs in a fast-paced environment, while upholding quality and food safety standards. The position includes preparing handcrafted coffee and tea beverages; assisting guests with bakery purchases and product questions; baking, packaging, labeling, and merchandising products; operating the cash register; rotating and replenishing stock; and helping with ordering and monthly inventory. The schedule must be flexible based on business needs, including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities
- Provide outstanding customer service tailored to guests’ needs and build rapport through individualized service.
- Prepare handcrafted coffee and tea beverages consistently, with quality and attention to detail.
- Operate the cash register accurately and efficiently while engaging guests in a friendly manner.
- Stock and replenish products while ensuring proper rotation and quality standards.
- Remove outdated items from the sales floor daily.
- Assist guests with bakery purchases, including serving from the cake case and answering product questions.
- Bake, package, label, and merchandise products for the sales floor according to quality and presentation standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, food-safe workspace and uphold food safety standards.
- Participate in product promotions and focus.
- Assist the Bakery Leadership Team with product and supply ordering as needed.
- Participate in monthly inventory to support accurate product counts and organization.
