About The Position

dnata is a global air and travel services provider connecting people with possibilities and opportunities across 130+ airports in 34 countries through ground handling, cargo, travel, and catering & retail services. The dnata USA team keeps 27 of the country’s major airports connected, handling significant amounts of cargo, passengers, and flights annually. The Bag room Agent is responsible for receiving, loading, unloading, and distributing passengers' checked baggage under the supervision of the Lead Agent or Supervisor. This role may also involve record-keeping procedures associated with baggage and flight records, and assisting in the handling and transportation of baggage as directed. The position requires the ability to work quickly, be physically fit, and have the stamina for lifting, carrying, and bending. Agents must also be able to use mechanical handling equipment and be careful workers, as some items handled can be expensive and fragile.

Requirements

  • Possess/maintain a valid state driver's license and other FAA/Airport required identification/seals or authorizations.
  • Must be able to pass SIDA airport and training tests.
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without accommodations.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving, loading, unloading, and distributing passengers' checked baggage.
  • Performing record keeping procedures associated with baggage and flight records.
  • Assisting in the handling and transportation of baggage as directed.
  • Transporting checked baggage from one location to the appropriate location.
  • Lifting baggage and/or cargo weighing up to 70lbs. when loading/unloading aircraft, carts, and containers.
  • Loading/unloading potentially over 100 items for a single aircraft.
  • Pushing/pulling loaded and empty carts and containers during loading/unloading operations.
  • Coupling/uncoupling carts and/or cargo container dollies.
  • Ascending/descending jet-way stairs while carrying baggage.
  • Bending/stooping and crawling to move and stack/unstack cargo in aircraft and containers.
  • Standing for up to 4 hours in all weather conditions to upload or unload cargo and direct traffic.
  • Walking continuously to load/unload cargo from pallets, containers, carts, or conveyor belts.
  • Completing safety checklists for motorized equipment.
  • Driving and operating motorized equipment (Tug, Belt Loader).
  • Reading and interpreting aircraft load sheets, checked baggage tags, and cargo labels.
  • Operating a computer to enter and retrieve data for weight and balance purposes.
  • Counting baggage/cargo being uploaded/unloaded during operations.
  • Connecting support equipment to aircraft such as PC Air, GPU etc.
  • Using signaling devices to communicate with co-workers or flight crew.
  • Ensuring compliance with dnata, TSA and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and policies.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
