About The Position

The Baggage Agent sorts, scans, and distributes incoming baggage and prepares it for delivery to the correct aircraft. The role requires compliance with applicable safety rules and laws, care of scanning equipment, attention to priority items, and professional customer interaction. The agent may also perform other related duties within the skill and experience capabilities expected for the position. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with A.M., overnight, and P.M. shifts in Atlanta, Georgia. The position requires completion of ramp and SIDA training to obtain airport-authority security identification.

Requirements

Must be a local, in-state resident.
High school diploma or GED.
Valid in-state driver's license.
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Ability to pass a background check of up to 10 years.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be authorized to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
Must complete ramp and SIDA training to obtain airport-authority identification security.
Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and move items weighing 70 pounds or more regularly, and repetitively lift 40 to 50 pounds onto raised surfaces.

Responsibilities

Set up proper conveyances to sort and distribute incoming bags.
Read and verify the city and flight number on every bag to ensure correct loading.
Organize and prioritize baggage for delivery to the appropriate aircraft.
Comply with TSA, DOT, FAA, and OSHA safety rules, regulations, and applicable laws.
Accept responsibility for the safety of the scanner and associated equipment.
Scan each bag as it arrives in the bag room.
Forward bags to and receive bags from TSA for processing.
Give appropriate attention to priority items.
Handle customer interactions efficiently, effectively, and professionally.
Perform other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities expected for the position.
