About The Position

The Bag Handler loads bags of soiled linen onto rail and conveyor systems so sort/count workstations have bags to process. The role also transfers soil linen slings or carts to the washroom and clean linen slings or carts to the Flatwork area, and assists sort/count workstations as needed. Other tasks may include cleaning empty carts and bins, keeping the work area clean, and working in other production positions as needed. The position must meet the applicable efficiency and safety standards and follow instructions from supervision.

Work takes place in production areas of a typical industrial laundry facility, where conditions may include temperature variations, odors, humidity, lint, and dust. Soiled linens come from customers such as restaurants, hotels, medical facilities, and shops. Travel is not required. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of drug screening.

Requirements

• Recognize colors and sizes and count accurately.
• Recognize different products.
• Comprehend and follow directions.
• Meet the physical requirements of the job and perform the physical demands for the entire shift.
• Successfully complete drug screening as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

• Lift and load bags of soiled linen onto rail and conveyor systems.
