About The Position

As a backend software engineer, you will design, build, and deploy AI system capabilities that drive business value and enhance global products. You will work cross-functionally with product managers, data scientists, and engineers to deliver AI systems for content personalization, audience analytics, creative optimization, and other applications. The position is listed as part-time and permanent. The location is remote in Texas, in the Central Time zone, subject to the company’s working-location expectations and business needs.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
At least 2 years of experience designing, maintaining, and testing enterprise-grade REST APIs.
At least 6 years of expert coding experience, including at least 2 years of Python experience.
Deep experience with concurrent systems such as asyncio, Tornado, or Celery.
Production experience with complex, long-running processes that present and collect data.
At least 2 years of experience with data persistence technologies such as Redis, Postgres, NoSQL, or MongoDB.
Production experience monitoring enterprise systems.
Proficiency with version tracking.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with LLMs, their APIs and performance challenges, and ways to mitigate those challenges (for example, OpenAI, Anthropic, or Cohere).
Ability to architect maintainable and extendable systems while balancing over-engineering against future needs.
Knowledge of containerization, DevOps tools, and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

Architect, develop, and test production-grade Python APIs for media products.
Support data pipelines, background jobs, and distributed systems that interact with AI models.
Collaborate with technical stakeholders to design scalable systems for development, deployment, and monitoring.
Create implementation plans that teams can use to achieve product goals.
Design robust systems for long-running processes, including databases, caching, retry logic, and fallback behavior; ensure errors are routed for triage.
Design and maintain high-quality automated tests and manual stress- and quality-testing frameworks for AI systems.
Consider data governance and cybersecurity practices, and ensure fairness, transparency, and regulatory compliance.
