About The Position

SplitMetrics is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer (Python) to join its team and build backend services and AI-enabled capabilities for its mobile marketing products. The role focuses on Python and FastAPI services, asynchronous job execution, integrations with large language model (LLM) services, creative asset storage and delivery, external MCP servers for third-party AI agents and clients, and data pipelines. The engineer will also help ensure system stability, observability, and cost-efficient inference. The role is remote, subject to location eligibility requirements.

Requirements

At least 4 years of Python backend experience.
Strong experience with FastAPI.
Experience with PostgreSQL and S3 or equivalent services.
Experience with asynchronous task queues such as Celery, Redis, or Kafka.
Production experience integrating with microservices, including long-running jobs, retries, and failure handling.
Hands-on experience with agentic AI, including building MCP servers, implementing agents, and working with LLMs and other generative models.
Enthusiasm for agentic AI and keeping up with developments in the field.
Basic observability skills, including logging, monitoring, and alerting.
Experience working in cross-functional teams with frontend and ML colleagues.
Experience with AWS infrastructure, Docker, and Kubernetes.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with LangChain or agentic workflows.
Background in marketing technology, such as ad platforms or creative tools.
Experience with StarRocks or other OLAP databases, such as ClickHouse.

Responsibilities

Design and build backend services in Python using FastAPI.
Implement asynchronous job execution and status tracking using technologies such as Redis, Celery, and Kafka.
Integrate with internal and external LLM services.
Store, version, and serve creative assets efficiently.
Build and maintain external MCP servers that expose the platform to third-party AI agents and clients.
Develop ETL pipelines and ensure data quality across ingestion, transformation, and storage.
Ensure stability, observability, and cost-efficient inference.
