About The Position

PLACE is hiring a Software Engineer with strong backend and full-stack expertise to join its CRM team. The team builds and maintains core functionality for the Brivity Platform, a CRM and lead management system used by real estate agents and teams across North America. The engineer will design and scale microservices, APIs, and data models supporting lead routing, pipeline management, communication tools, and reporting, while contributing to the platform foundation used by other products and integrations. The role involves building and maintaining production web applications and distributed systems across server-side logic, databases, APIs, and frontend code. The engineer will develop scalable services and end-to-end features, work with product and engineering partners, and contribute to reliability, performance, code quality, documentation, testing, and technical standards. AI-assisted development tools are part of the workflow, with engineering judgment retained for architecture, security, and performance.

Requirements

3–5+ years of professional experience in backend and full-stack software development.
Strong proficiency in backend development with Ruby on Rails, .NET (C#), or Node.js/TypeScript.
Solid working experience with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, data modeling, query optimization, and REST/GraphQL API design.
Experience with REST/GraphQL APIs and integrating frontend applications with backend services.
Hands-on experience using AI coding tools such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor in a professional development workflow.
Experience writing automated unit, integration, or end-to-end tests.
Proficiency with Git and collaborative workflows.
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development practices.
Strong communication skills and comfort working cross-functionally with product, design, and QA.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Ruby, .NET, TypeScript, and React.
Partner with product and engineering leadership to scope, prioritize, and deliver features.
Translate product requirements and architectural designs into secure, reliable backend services and end-to-end features.
Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, testing, and documentation while maintaining code quality.
Write clean, scalable, well-documented code following best practices.
Develop and maintain automated tests.
Debug issues, fix bugs, and improve performance and reliability.
Identify and reduce technical debt across the codebase.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards.
Collaborate with design, QA, backend engineering, and product teams.
Communicate technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Contribute to Agile processes, including standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
Deliver high-quality features within sprint timelines.
Maintain and improve technical documentation.
Stay current with platform updates, tools, and best practices, including emerging AI development tools.
