Backend / Full-Stack Engineer

About The Position

PLACE is hiring a Software Engineer with strong backend and full-stack expertise for its CRM team. The team builds and maintains core functionality for the Brivity Platform, a CRM and lead management system supporting the day-to-day workflows of real estate agents and teams across North America. The engineer will design and scale microservices, APIs, and data models for lead routing, pipeline management, communication tools, and reporting, contributing to a high-performance foundation for other products and integrations. The role involves building production web applications and distributed systems across server-side logic, databases, APIs, and frontend code. The engineer will work with technologies including Ruby, .NET, TypeScript, and React, and will use AI-assisted development tools to support coding, testing, and documentation while applying independent judgment on architecture, security, and performance. The position collaborates with product, design, QA, and engineering partners to deliver secure, reliable, maintainable features and improve platform performance and reliability.

Requirements

3–5+ years of professional experience in backend and full-stack software development.
Strong proficiency in backend development with Ruby on Rails, .NET (C#), or Node.js/TypeScript.
Working experience with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, data modeling, query optimization, and REST/GraphQL API design.
Experience integrating frontend applications with backend services.
Hands-on experience using AI coding tools such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor in a professional development workflow.
Experience writing automated unit, integration, or end-to-end tests.
Proficiency with Git and collaborative workflows.
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development practices.
Strong communication skills and comfort working cross-functionally with product, design, and QA.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Ruby, .NET, TypeScript, and React.
Partner with product and engineering leadership to scope, prioritize, and deliver features.
Translate product requirements and architectural designs into secure, reliable backend services and end-to-end features.
Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, testing, and documentation while maintaining code quality.
Write clean, scalable, well-documented code following best practices.
Develop and maintain automated tests.
Debug issues, fix bugs, and improve performance and reliability.
Identify and reduce technical debt across the codebase.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards.
Collaborate cross-functionally with design, QA, backend engineering, and product teams.
Communicate technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Contribute to Agile processes, including standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
Deliver high-quality features within sprint timelines.
Maintain and improve technical documentation.
Stay current with platform updates, tools, and best practices, including emerging AI development tools.
