Sr. Full Stack Engineer (Backend)

VibeIQ•Boston, MA
•$150,000 - $200,000

About The Position

VibeIQ is seeking a Sr. Full Stack Engineer to join the Core Apps team, which builds customer-facing collaboration, planning, and showcase products, along with the services and shared libraries behind capabilities such as line planning, item search, assortments, documents, presentations and previews, projects, custom entities, and AI-assisted line and item generation. The role is full stack with a backend emphasis. The engineer will own API services across the domain, from data modeling and service architecture through the AWS infrastructure on which they run, and will also contribute to the Angular applications consuming those services. The role includes delivering features end to end, maintaining production service quality, collaborating across product and engineering, and mentoring teammates. VibeIQ describes its mission as helping companies that design, manufacture, or sell products collaborate more effectively, improve work-life balance, and reduce environmental impact.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years building and running production backend services; TypeScript and Node.js are preferred.
  • Hands-on AWS experience across Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, IAM, and event-driven services such as SQS and SNS, including operating services in production.
  • Track record of API design and data modeling in reliable, high-traffic systems.
  • Working proficiency in a modern frontend framework; Angular is preferred, or React.
  • Strong distributed-systems debugging skills, including researching problems, weighing options, and designing fixes across the stack.
  • Clear technical writing skills, including design documents, runbooks, and actionable decisions.
  • Proactive communication and an interest in learning, growing, and helping others do the same.
  • Comfort with ownership, fast iteration, and wearing multiple hats in a startup environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in retail, apparel, or consumer products, such as line planning, assortments, merchandising, or PLM.
  • Experience shipping LLM-backed product features, including prompt design, evaluation, and cost and latency tradeoffs.
  • Familiarity with SaaS integrations such as PLM, DAM, PIM, or ERP systems.
  • Experience with real-time synchronization, WebSockets, or collaborative editing.
  • Depth in Angular, NgRx/RxJS, or browser performance work.
  • Experience with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch at scale.
  • Experience with automated testing and testable system design.
  • Experience managing cloud spend.
  • Interest in security.
  • Strong intuition for UX.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain backend services behind the core apps.
  • Operate services on AWS and remain accountable for reliability, performance, observability, and cost.
  • Build AI-assisted generation features, including generating lines and items from customer data, and the supporting services.
  • Own features from technical design through deployment and monitoring, including Angular work when needed.
  • Model data for large customer catalogs and multi-tenant workloads, keeping performance strong as catalogs grow.
  • Work with product managers, designers, and engineers to define product work and contribute ideas.
  • Diagnose and resolve production issues across distributed systems.
  • Improve code quality, code review, continuous integration, and testing practices.
  • Mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and raise the team's technical standards.
  • Collaborate with teams across VibeIQ to improve the product, architecture, and engineering practices.
