Backend Developer, New Products

We are actively seeking a backend developer to join our team and contribute to the development of our AI-powered software for county governments. This is a fully-remote opportunity with a focus on designing and creating intuitive and effective products and architectures. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to make thoughtful decisions about the technology stack and contribute code from day one. We are looking for someone who can work independently, has a strong understanding of building scalable products, and is comfortable collaborating with our US Eastern team.

Design, prototype, write, test, refactor, review, debug, deploy, monitor, and occasionally document software systems and services

Make thoughtful decisions about the technology stack

Build an extensible and scalable product in an elegant way

Contribute code from day 1

Collaborate with the team to design and create intuitive and effective products and architectures

Trust your gut and make decisions quickly

Have a ton of EQ (emotional intelligence)

Ensure work hours overlap with the US Eastern team

Be available during the hours of 8 am ET - 5 pm ET, with +/- 3 hours flexibility

5+ years back-end development experience

Significant experience with Java EE, AWS, Postgres

Experience with data structures, databases, SQL

Experience with version control

• Bachelor’s degree in fields such as Computer Science or Software Engineering (Nice to have)
• Experience developing or working with geospatial analytics solutions (Nice to have)
• Startup work experience (Nice to have)
• Proficiency with JSON, Python, & Javascript (Nice to have)
