Backend / API Engineer, Money Movement - Payouts

Stripe is looking for a Backend Engineer to join their Payouts team. The team is responsible for providing users with access to their money in various forms. The ideal candidate should have a strong technical background, including 3+ years of industry experience building high-quality code and infrastructure, and be fluent in both Portuguese and English. They should also be able to work cross-functionally and care deeply about mentorship and growing engineers. The role involves designing, building, expanding, and maintaining APIs and services, aligning technical decisions with Stripe's strategic initiatives, and developing and executing against both short- and long-term roadmaps. The candidate should be able to assess the optimal design and build a scalable and flexible infrastructure required for Stripe to maintain full compliance with Brazil receivables registration regulation. Preferred qualifications include experience in the Brazilian payments market, ensuring great user experience and ease of use of features and products, and experience with financial product companies and interest in financial products and markets.

• Scope and lead technical projects, laying the groundwork for our products to iteratively evolve and scale
• Design, build, expand and maintain APIs and services
• Work with our partners to design and launch new features and capabilities
• Align our technical decisions with Stripe’s broad strategic initiatives, while also advocating for needs specific to emerging new businesses
• Work with engineers across the company to understand when existing infrastructure can be leveraged vs. when building a bespoke solution is prudent
• Develop and execute against both short- and long-term roadmaps. Make effective tradeoffs that consider business priorities, user experience, and a sustainable technical foundation
• Assess the optimal design and build a scalable and flexible infrastructure required for Stripe to maintain full compliance with Brazil receivables registration regulation

• Speak both Portuguese and English fluently
• Have a strong technical background, including 3+ years of industry experience building high quality code and infrastructure

• Have experience of the Brazilian payments market especially merchant receivables especially building and/or maintaining integrations with merchant receivables registration chambers (CERC, CIP, TAG).
• Have experience in ensuring great user experience and ease of use of features and products you build.
• Have experience with financial product companies and interest in financial products and markets.
