Azure DevOps Engineer

SAIC•Arlington, VA
•Onsite

About The Position

SAIC is seeking an Azure DevOps Engineer to build and operate an internal developer platform for connected and air-gapped environments. The platform includes Azure, CI/CD, Kubernetes, pipelines, and automation. The role is primarily onsite at the customer location in Arlington, Virginia, with a minimum of three onsite days per week; requirements may change based on program needs. The engineer will build internal DevOps tools, CLI utilities, and automation scripts. The environment uses GitLab for source control and pipelines, Terraform as the primary automation language, Python for helpers and tests, and Helm for Kubernetes deployments. It includes Microsoft Azure Stack Hub and a Hyper-V sidecar. Engineering practices emphasize trunk-based workflows, deterministic pipelines with testing and security scans, change-level evidence such as JUnit results, SBOMs, and scan results, and avoiding manual click-ops. The role also involves checksum-, signature-, and SBOM-driven artifact movement; mirroring with reposync and Pulp; offline scanning and promotion for high-side environments; and default secret hygiene. Candidates must have an active Top Secret clearance with eligible SCI, and SCI access must have been debriefed within the past two years.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and five years of experience, or four additional years of work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience building Go-based CLI tools and API integrations to automate cloud infrastructure provisioning.
  • Strong background deploying and managing cloud resources in Azure and AWS.
  • Infrastructure as Code experience with tools such as Terraform.
  • Scripting experience with PowerShell or Python for pipeline and operating-system task automation.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft enterprise environments, including Active Directory, Entra ID, and DNS.
  • Configuration management experience with tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Active Top Secret clearance with eligible SCI; SCI access must have been debriefed within the last two years.

Nice To Haves

  • Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) experience.
  • Familiarity with RHEL and Windows patching.
  • Strong documentation habits for handoffs and audits.
  • Experience using Helm to manage Kubernetes deployments.
