Azure DevOps Engineer

SAIC•Arlington, VA
•Onsite

About The Position

SAIC is seeking an Azure DevOps Engineer to work at its Arlington, Virginia location. The role is primarily onsite at a customer location, with a minimum of three days onsite per week; onsite requirements may change based on program needs. The engineer will build internal DevOps tools, CLI utilities, and automation scripts, and will build and operate an internal developer platform using Azure, CI/CD, Kubernetes, pipelines, and automation for connected and air-gapped environments. The platform uses GitLab for source control and pipelines, Terraform as the primary automation language, Python for helpers and tests, and Helm for Kubernetes deployments. The environment also includes Microsoft Azure Stack Hub and a Hyper-V sidecar. The work emphasizes trunk-based GitLab workflows, deterministic pipelines with built-in testing and security scans, evidence such as JUnit results, SBOMs, and scan results attached to every change, and avoiding manual click-ops. Artifact movement for high-side environments relies on checksums, signatures, and SBOMs, with mirroring via reposync and Pulp and offline scanning and promotion. The role also requires secret hygiene and familiarity with secrets management and vulnerability and misconfiguration scanning in CI.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and five years of experience, or four additional years of work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Go-based CLI tools and API integrations for cloud infrastructure provisioning.
  • Strong background deploying and managing cloud resources in Azure and AWS.
  • Infrastructure as Code experience with tools such as Terraform.
  • Scripting experience in PowerShell or Python for pipeline and operating-system task automation.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft enterprise environments, including Active Directory, Entra ID, and DNS.
  • Configuration management experience using tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Active Top Secret clearance with eligibility for SCI; SCI access must have been debriefed within the last two years.

Nice To Haves

  • Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) experience.
  • Familiarity with RHEL and Windows patching.
  • Strong documentation habits for handoffs and audits.
  • Experience using Helm to manage Kubernetes deployments.
