About The Position

BigBear.ai is seeking a Mid-level AWS Developer for a federal government engagement. This role is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining secure, scalable cloud applications and services in an AWS environment, with a focus on delivering reliable solutions that meet federal performance, security, and compliance requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 to 8 years of experience.
  • 5+ years of software development experience, including 3+ years in AWS.
  • Strong hands-on experience with core AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, and API Gateway.
  • Proficiency in one or more modern languages: Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Experience building and deploying cloud-native applications, APIs, and microservices.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and automation.
  • Experience with security best practices, including least-privilege access, encryption, logging, and monitoring.
  • Familiarity with federal government environments and secure delivery expectations.
  • Ability to work in an agile team and collaborate with architects, engineers, and stakeholders.

  • Python development experience
  • Experience with containers and orchestration, such as Docker, Kubernetes, or ECS
  • Experience with serverless architecture
  • Exposure to FedRAMP, NIST, or other federal security frameworks
  • Clearance or ability to obtain one, if required by the client

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable cloud-native applications and services within an AWS environment.
  • Build and deploy APIs, microservices, and serverless solutions to support mission-critical federal government initiatives.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions in an Agile environment.
  • Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment processes to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Monitor application performance and system health using AWS monitoring and logging tools, ensuring availability and operational excellence.
  • Apply AWS security best practices, including IAM, encryption, logging, and least-privilege access controls to meet federal security requirements.
  • Troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance cloud applications for performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Support cloud modernization efforts by leveraging AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, API Gateway, VPC, and CloudWatch.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to automate processes and improve development workflows.
  • Ensure solutions align with federal compliance, security, and operational standards.
