About The Position

The IT Senior AWS Developer supports critical MassHealth applications by designing, developing, and maintaining cloud-native solutions within the Medicaid Systems Development (MSD) team. This role focuses on building serverless applications on AWS that support healthcare operations, document processing, system integrations, and secure data management. The position works closely with business and technical teams to deliver scalable, secure, and compliant solutions that improve services for Massachusetts residents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 8 or more years of software development experience in a team-based environment
  • 5 or more years of hands-on AWS cloud experience
  • 3 or more years of experience developing AWS serverless solutions
  • 3 or more years of React development experience
  • 4 or more years of Python development experience
  • 3 or more years of PostgreSQL RDS experience
  • Experience with AWS Lambda, API Gateway, Cognito, Step Functions, S3, and CloudWatch
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as CloudFormation, Terraform, or CDK
  • Experience with REST and SOAP web service integrations
  • Experience with GitHub Actions and CI/CD pipelines
  • Strong SQL development and database design experience
  • Experience with Java/J2EE and Oracle technologies
  • Experience working in Agile development environments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain serverless applications on AWS
  • Build solutions utilizing AWS Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, Cognito, S3, and CloudWatch
  • Implement Infrastructure-as-Code using CloudFormation, Terraform, or AWS CDK
  • Develop scalable cloud-native architectures that support enterprise workloads
  • Design and develop modern user interfaces using React and related technologies
  • Develop backend services and APIs using Python
  • Implement responsive and accessible applications that comply with WCAG standards
  • Participate in application architecture and technical design activities
  • Design and optimize PostgreSQL RDS database solutions
  • Develop SQL scripts, queries, views, and database objects
  • Support data integrity, audit requirements, and performance optimization
  • Create and maintain data models aligned with business requirements
  • Develop integrations using REST and SOAP web services
  • Support document upload, validation, processing, and transmission workflows
  • Integrate applications with enterprise document management systems
  • Manage metadata capture and storage requirements for compliance and audit purposes
  • Support CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and related technologies
  • Participate in code reviews, release planning, deployment, and production support activities
  • Maintain source control, branching strategies, and development standards
  • Develop technical documentation, deployment guides, and operational procedures
  • Participate in full software development lifecycle activities including analysis, design, coding, testing, and deployment
  • Support cross-functional projects and enterprise solution initiatives
  • Collaborate with architects, developers, analysts, and stakeholders on technical strategy and implementation
  • Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and Commonwealth technology standards
