About The Position

UF Health's Financial Planning & Analysis department is seeking an Associate Vice President, Financial Planning & Analysis. They will Lead strategic finance and capital markets activities for UF Health, providing executive leadership with financial evaluation and recommendations for major strategic investments, growth initiatives, and financing decisions. Responsible for business case development, strategic financial modeling, capital allocation recommendations, joint venture and transaction evaluation, and capital markets activities. Partner closely with the CFO, SVP Enterprise Planning and Financial Performance, Treasury, Strategy, Legal, Market Finance, and external advisors to evaluate opportunities and develop financing strategies. Support long-term financial sustainability through disciplined investment evaluation, transaction execution, and capital structure planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible finance experience, including significant experience in strategic finance, corporate finance, investment evaluation, transaction advisory, capital markets, or related functions.
  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience, including responsibility for leading complex financial analyses, transactions, or strategic finance initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience developing business cases, financial models, valuations, and investment recommendations for significant strategic initiatives.
  • Strong strategic finance and financial modeling capabilities, including valuation, scenario analysis, return analysis, and assessment of complex investment opportunities.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate complex financial and transaction matters clearly and effectively to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate strategic opportunities from both financial and enterprise perspectives and translate analysis into actionable recommendations.
  • Strong negotiation, transaction management, project management, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a matrixed environment and build productive relationships across Finance, Treasury, Strategy, Legal, Market leadership, and external advisors.
  • Knowledge of healthcare finance, capital markets, debt financing, credit considerations, and key financial drivers of health system performance.
  • High degree of judgment, initiative, discretion, collaboration, and accountability.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in business administration, Finance, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with debt financing, capital structure, rating agencies, investment banking, or other capital markets activities strongly preferred.
  • Healthcare industry experience strongly preferred; experience within a large health system or academic health system preferred.
  • CPA other relevant professional designations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic financial evaluation of major enterprise growth initiatives and investments, including business case development, financial modeling, scenario analysis, return on investment evaluation, and executive recommendations.
  • Evaluate joint ventures, partnerships, affiliations, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions, including valuation, due diligence, transaction structuring, negotiations, execution, and post-transaction financial integration.
  • Develop enterprise capital allocation recommendations by evaluating competing investment opportunities, financial returns, strategic priorities, affordability, and long-term financial implications.
  • Develop financing strategies and evaluate capital structure alternatives in partnership with Treasury and executive leadership to support enterprise capital requirements and long-term financial sustainability.
  • Support debt issuance, refinancing, and other capital markets activities; coordinate financial analysis and materials for rating agencies, investors, investment bankers, and other external financial partners.
  • Provide strategic financial analysis and recommendations to the CFO and executive leadership on growth opportunities, enterprise portfolio decisions, and other complex financial matters.
  • Build and lead the Strategic Finance & Capital Markets team, establishing capabilities, processes, and partnerships necessary to support enterprise strategic finance and transaction activities.
