About The Position

AVID tutors support students in the AVID program by working in small, subject-specific tutorial groups and individually. Tutors use teaching methodologies and materials for AVID students, assisting them in academic areas so students can make progress commensurate with college expectations. They facilitate collaborative tutorial groups to help students achieve their full potential. Tutorials take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the school day.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Currently enrolled college student with a minimum 2.5 GPA.
• Strong background in math, science, and/or English, evidenced by high school or college transcripts.

Responsibilities

• Work with AVID students in study groups and individually.
• Assist students in academic areas to support progress commensurate with college expectations.
• Facilitate collaborative, small-group tutorials that are specific to subject areas.
