About The Position

The AV Installation and Service Technician is responsible for supporting the full lifecycle of audio/visual system delivery, including internal staging, field installation, customer-site service, preventative maintenance, testing, documentation, and closeout. This role combines shop-based preparation with hands-on installation and technical service work to ensure systems are built, installed, tested, maintained, and supported in accordance with proposal specifications, design documentation, Bluum standards, and customer expectations.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in AV installation or electronics assembly.
  • Advanced knowledge of AV signal flow (Audio, Video, Control, and Networking).
  • Proficiency with hand tools and various test equipment (multimeters, cable testers).
  • Advanced understanding of computer networking, including IP addressing and subnetting.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, wire, label, and dress AV equipment racks according to engineered signal flows, project documentation, and Bluum standards.
  • Verify project hardware and staging inventory before deployment, coordinating discrepancies with the appropriate warehouse, project, or installation resources.
  • Modify or customize rack hardware and mounting solutions as required for specific project needs.
  • Install AV equipment at customer site(s), including wall mounts, brackets, white boards, screens, monitors, projectors, and related system components, in accordance with proposal specifications and system design.
  • Test installed systems and perform basic troubleshooting using supplied test equipment to confirm functionality before handoff or departure from the job site.
  • Provide basic system training for customers and support successful project turnover.
  • Communicate installation progress, completed work, open issues, and job status to the appropriate Project Lead Installer, Project Manager, Installation Manager, or Technical Service Coordinator.
  • Function as a mentor, trainer, and technical resource to other Installers.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, or replace AV equipment at customer site(s) as assigned by Technical Service Coordinators.
  • Perform preventative maintenance services for installed audio/visual systems at customer site(s).
  • Respond to customer phone calls and emails related to technical audio/visual equipment issues, escalating as needed.
  • Coordinate with Technical Service Coordinators regarding service completion, unresolved issues, required follow-up, and documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
