About The Position

Faire is hiring an AV Engineer for its AV Operations team. The role owns day-to-day operations for standard conference rooms and workplace media systems, including preventative maintenance, hands-on troubleshooting and repair, and the content pipelines for digital signage and office background music. The engineer will be the dedicated operational owner for these systems and will also help run live events, including company-wide meetings and leadership offsites. The role is based onsite in Faire’s San Francisco office, with remote support for other offices and occasional travel. It includes maintaining room equipment and records, keeping managed devices updated, managing signage and music administration, supporting employees and IT Operations, and working with senior AV engineers on complex AV systems and rooms.

Requirements

  • 2 to 4 years of experience supporting AV, IT, or workplace technology.
  • Hands-on experience with video-conferencing room systems; Zoom Rooms is strongly preferred, along with Logitech Rally family, Tap, Sync, or equivalent systems.
  • Comfort with displays, mounts, cabling, and HDMI and USB signal flow, supported by a systematic troubleshooting methodology.
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including IP, VLANs, PoE, and DHCP, and how AV devices depend on them.
  • Experience with ticket-driven support and clear written documentation habits.
  • Service orientation and ability to support employees and leadership in visible live meeting spaces, including under pressure.
  • Physical ability to work on ladders, lift equipment, and access ceilings and racks.

Nice To Haves

  • Digital signage platform experience.
  • Familiarity with commercial audio, including passive speaker systems, amplifiers, and DSP concepts at the operational level.
  • Exposure to Q-SYS, Shure, or Dante environments.
  • Familiarity with mobile device management (MDM) for Apple devices.
  • Live event or production support background.

Responsibilities

  • Own preventative maintenance for standard conference rooms and phone booths, including displays, video bars, controllers, schedulers, table microphones, and cabling.
  • Perform daily room sweeps in the San Francisco office and triage room-sweep reports from other offices into immediate fixes, scheduled remediation, or strategic projects.
  • Respond to AV tickets in standard rooms, diagnosing and repairing hardware, cabling, mounts, controllers, schedulers, and provisioning issues to defined response and resolution targets.
  • Resolve issues remotely where possible using tools such as Zoom Admin Portal and Logitech Sync, including restarting and re-provisioning devices and updating room settings.
  • Keep managed AV devices current within IT Security update timelines; plan update waves, track fleet compliance, and flag devices that cannot be updated.
  • Inspect displays for burn-in and image retention, enforce background rotation standards, and verify display power schedules.
  • Own digital signage content workflows across offices, from intake and scheduling through publishing and expiration, and maintain content templates.
  • Administer office background music, including account approval, endpoint troubleshooting, zone volume, and scheduled on/off times; enable Workplace partners to manage playlists and zones.
  • Maintain common-area displays and shared AV in lounges, cafés, gaming areas, and open spaces, and maintain a spares inventory with reorder thresholds.
  • Keep room records, as-built notes, SOPs, and runbooks current, and write repeatable procedures for IT Operations first-line support.
  • Train and enable users in complex rooms and event spaces, including source and display selection, Zoom Rooms controllers, UCI panel basics, wireless microphone handling, and podium inputs.
  • Provide first-line guidance to teams running smaller live events themselves.
  • Identify patterns from room sweeps, including recurring failures and rooms nearing end of life, and contribute data to lifecycle and refresh planning.
  • Support live events across offices, including setup, sound checks, microphone handling, and day-of support for events ranging from smaller team-run events to full productions.
  • Partner with senior AV engineers on DSP, Q-SYS, Dante, RF, and complex-room work by providing documented diagnoses and following issues through resolution.
