About The Position

Caterpillar is seeking an Autonomous Hauling Technology Consultant to help launch and optimize Cat® MineStar™ Command for Hauling at quarry operations in North America. The role partners with customers, Cat dealers, Caterpillar experts, and field teams to support safe, efficient autonomous operations and help customers realize the value of the technology. The consultant serves as a trusted technical advisor during site launches and operational ramp-up. Based at the HUB, the role focuses on technical leadership, troubleshooting complex system challenges, improving performance, and collaborating with field teams. Quarry operations offer a collaborative environment in which the consultant can directly influence operational results and help shape Caterpillar’s growing autonomous hauling solutions for the quarry industry. The position is based in Phoenix, Arizona, requires onsite work five days a week, and includes 25–50% travel to customer sites. Domestic relocation is available; visa sponsorship is not available.

Requirements

Deep technical expertise in mining or quarry technologies, including machine control systems, off-board communications, networking, electronic system integration, or autonomous mining solutions.
Hands-on experience implementing or supporting MineStar Command for Hauling in operational environments.
Proven experience providing field support and maintaining complex hardware and software systems.
Demonstrated success supporting customers remotely and onsite in fast-paced mining or industrial settings.
Ability to independently anticipate, diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve organizational, operational, technical, and process-related challenges, implementing solutions that minimize disruption and sustain safe, productive operations.
Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, including the ability to work autonomously at customer sites and collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and technical experts.
Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable information and build credibility with customers and operational leaders.
Strong diagnostic approach for electronic systems and networks, with aptitude for using logs and telemetry to identify root causes.
Willingness to travel 25–50% to customer sites and work onsite five days a week.

Nice To Haves

Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mining Engineering.
Hands-on experience with Command for Hauling onboarding, Terrain, AOZ access, Command Builder, and Pit Technician tools.
Experience in roles such as Onboard Specialist, Command Service Engineer, Pit Technician, or MineStar Application Specialist.

Responsibilities

Lead the optimization of MineStar™ Command for Hauling at customer sites to achieve and sustain safety, productivity, and operational targets.
Advise customer teams on system performance, reliability, and fleet optimization.
Monitor autonomy and machine data to identify trends, troubleshoot complex issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, operational excellence, production optimization, and long-term customer success.
Develop and maintain training materials, quality assurance processes, quality control standards, and operational documentation.
Partner with Caterpillar engineering and product support to resolve technical challenges, enhance system capabilities, and provide Voice of Customer feedback for future product development.
Contribute to Remote Operations Support capabilities by improving processes, tools, and best practices.
