About The Position

This position is located at the Automotive Skills Center. Duties are performed independently in accordance with accepted trade practices and guides. The job requires identifying improperly functioning parts for repair or replacement using on-board computer diagnostic systems and other test equipment, determining whether parts should be cleaned or replaced, and installing, adjusting, and setting automotive systems in accordance with manufacturer's specifications, followed by testing the completed product.

Requirements

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • A medical examination is required as this position requires frequent lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Occasionally, move moderately heavy items weighing 50 or more pounds with assistance or with mechanical devices.
  • Must be willing to accept varying and/or rotating shifts to include mornings, afternoons, early evening, weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid state driver's license prior to the time of appointment.
  • Must be 18 years or older at the time of appointment.
  • Be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds (occasionally, move objects over 50 pounds with assistance or with mechanical devices).
  • Possess a valid motor vehicle operators driver's license.
  • Have work experience performing the identified duties (Repairing or replacing improperly functioning parts for repair or replacement using on-board computer diagnostic systems and other test equipment; install, adjust and set automotive systems in accordance with manufacturer's specifications and tests the completed products.).
  • Be able to work independently.
  • Knowledge of the various techniques for removing, replacing, cleaning and installing parts and components.
  • Skill to make adjustments and settings and in the operation of tools and equipment used.
  • Understanding of diagnostic and test equipment; the make-up and operation of systems and their interrelationship.
