About The Position

This position is located at JBLM Family and MWR - Community Recreation Division - Sports, Fitness & Aquatics. This is a Regular Full Time position with a work week of 40 hours and eligibility for employee benefits package and leave accrual. The duties include cleaning rooms, corridors, stairways, and other areas by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, stripping, and polishing using light and heavy duty powered equipment. The role also involves operating industrial equipment to clean rugs and drapes, performing routine maintenance of equipment, and cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing toilet facilities. Additionally, the Custodial Worker will clean and dust assigned areas, empty trash, and may make beds and change linen. Washing walls, windows, blinds, and ceiling fixtures using ladders, scaffolds, and safety belts, and moving heavy furniture are also part of the responsibilities. The position requires maintaining stock of room and cleaning supplies, following instructions, reading signs, and possessing a basic knowledge of common cleaning solvents, tools, and equipment. The role involves using special cleaning and sanitizing solutions for various stains and surfaces, troubleshooting, making adjustments, and performing minor repairs and maintenance of equipment. The Custodial Worker works independently under general supervision to accomplish assigned work and may perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Must have ability to follow instructions and read signs.
Must have a basic knowledge of common cleaning solvents, cleaning tools, and equipment.
Uses a variety of special cleaning and sanitizing solutions to remove different kinds of stains from a wide variety of surfaces.

A one-year probationary period may be required.
Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
Appointment subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2.
Must meet physical requirements of the position.
Successful completion of a pre-employment physical is required.

Responsibilities
