About The Position

The Automotive Technician performs basic vehicle diagnostics and routine vehicle repair and maintenance in accordance with company standards and manufacturer specifications. The role is expected to deliver exceptional 5 Star guest service by communicating vehicle issues and proposed solutions effectively and meeting guest expectations for time commitments and quality. Compensation is flat-rate and performance-based, with technicians earning $25.00–$40.00 per hour based upon experience. Technicians earn a set amount for each eligible task completed, and flat-rate pay is based on teammate productivity. The position may be full-time or part-time, is hourly, and is based on business needs.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Automotive training in basic car maintenance and repair, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Current valid driver’s license and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
Own a basic set of tools or participate in Monro’s tool purchase program.

Nice To Haves

ASE certification.
State Inspection license, where applicable.

Responsibilities

Perform basic vehicle diagnostics to identify required repairs.
Complete Monro’s Courtesy Inspection process on every guest vehicle; identify, document, and communicate additional needed services and repairs.
Audit courtesy inspections performed by General Service Technicians.
Assist with inventory management, including pulling tires and parts, unloading, and stocking inventory.
Assist with general store duties and maintain the store in excellent, clean, guest-ready condition according to Monro standards.
Perform services in accordance with Monro’s safety standards, including Wheel Torque and oil safety and compliance procedures.
Test drive vehicles according to Monro’s Road Test policy, use dedicated test drive routes, and follow local traffic and safety laws.
Follow company policies and procedures and governmental standards, including environmental codes and ANSI/OSHA standards.
Consistently use required safety standards established by training, policies, and procedures.
Maintain technical knowledge and proficiency by completing required Monro University training courses and modules on time.
Operate, use, and maintain equipment safely according to Monro and equipment manufacturer guidelines, including lifts, welders, and brake lathes.
Perform other duties as assigned and required.
