About The Position
Swickard Auto Group is seeking an experienced Automotive Service Technician/Mechanic for their Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac of Anchorage dealership. This is a high-volume, multi-brand dealership serving a dynamic automotive community in Alaska. The role involves diagnosing and repairing a variety of vehicles, with a focus on GM brands, utilizing GM diagnostic platforms and OEM procedures. Technicians are expected to perform multi-point inspections, develop accurate repair plans, and execute repairs with speed and precision. The position offers a clear career path within the Swickard group, with opportunities for growth into senior tech, shop foreman, and service management roles.
Requirements
- 2+ years of flat-rate technician experience in a franchised dealership.
- GM or domestic brand experience strongly preferred (Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, Cadillac, Ford, Ram, or similar backgrounds).
- Import technicians with solid fundamentals are welcome.
- Strong diagnostic foundation -- able to work through multi-system problems accurately and efficiently, including 4WD and cold-weather wear patterns common in Alaska.
- Low comeback rate and a quality standard you own.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Nice To Haves
- GDS2 or equivalent GM diagnostic platform experience preferred.
- ASE certifications a strong plus.
- GM factory certifications highly valued.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac vehicles across a full range of systems including engine, transmission, brakes, electrical, suspension, HVAC, and four-wheel drive, using GM diagnostic platforms and OEM procedures.
- Perform multi-point inspections and develop accurate repair plans, communicating findings clearly to service advisors to support guest authorization.
- Execute repairs to GM factory specifications with speed, accuracy, and zero shortcuts.
- Complete repair orders accurately, documenting all work performed and parts used with precision.
- Stay current on GM technical service bulletins, software updates, and manufacturer repair procedures.
- Perform test drives to validate diagnostic conclusions and confirm repair quality before vehicle return.
