Experienced Automotive Service Technician/Mechanic
About The Position
Swickard Auto Group is seeking an experienced Automotive Service Technician/Mechanic for Land Rover San Francisco. This is a line technician role focused on diagnostics for a luxury European brand. The position offers a flat rate of $45-$55/hr and provides training and certification support for Land Rover. The ideal candidate has experience with Japanese import platforms (Honda, Toyota, Lexus, Acura, or similar) and is looking for a technically challenging role at a high-volume, award-winning dealership. Land Rover San Francisco is described as an iconic luxury automotive destination with a loyal guest base.
Requirements
- 3+ years of technician experience in a franchised dealership or European aftermarket shop
- Strong diagnostic background
- Solid command of European vehicle systems -- advanced electrical, CAN bus, air suspension, terrain response, and ADAS
- Low comeback rate and a personal standard for quality that doesn't require managing
- Clear communicator who works effectively with advisors, the shop foreman, and fellow technicians
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Nice To Haves
- Dealership or European aftermarket experience
- Japanese import platform experience (Honda, Toyota, Lexus, Acura, or similar)
- Land Rover, Jaguar, or European brand experience strongly preferred
- Other ASE certifications a strong plus
Responsibilities
- Perform accurate, efficient diagnosis on Land Rover vehicles across all systems -- electrical, drivetrain, suspension, ADAS, and beyond -- using JLR diagnostic platforms and OEM tools
- Execute line repairs to manufacturer specifications -- from routine maintenance to complex multi-system repairs -- with speed, accuracy, and zero shortcuts
- Document findings, repair procedures, and parts used on every repair order with precision and clarity
- Communicate technical findings to service advisors in a way that supports accurate guest communication and repair authorization
- Collaborate with senior technicians on complex diagnostic cases -- contributing to and learning from a high-caliber team
- Stay current on Land Rover technical service bulletins, software updates, and evolving repair procedures
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation that reflects the standard of the brand and the shop
- Perform test drives to validate diagnostic conclusions and confirm repair quality before vehicle return
