About The Position

As a Sr. Reconditioning Associate II, you will help ensure vehicles meet CarMax paint and cosmetic standards before they reach customers. The role involves advanced paint application, minor repairs, sanding, grinding, and paint preparation, as well as related reconditioning duties as needed. The position emphasizes precision, quality, and efficiency in a team environment.

The hourly rate is $35.09. External candidates hired for the position qualify for a $7,500 sign-on bonus. Associates are entitled to paid sick, vacation, and holiday time according to their employment classification and applicable state law. Full-time hourly or commission/incentive-eligible associates can accrue up to 48 hours of sick time per year and receive 80 to 200 hours of vacation annually after a 90-day waiting period, based on continuous service. They also receive eight hours of pay for six scheduled holidays and one floating holiday; holiday premium pay may apply when working a scheduled holiday due to business needs. Full-time salaried associates receive paid time away as needed, subject to manager approval.

Requirements

• Complete CarMax New Associate Orientation Training – Operations.
• Meet performance standards and workstation certifications for all related roles.
• Read, interpret, and record data accurately.
• Perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
• Demonstrate color discernment and paint application skills.
• Be physically able to lift up to 50 pounds and work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions.
• Communicate effectively with customers and team members.
• Use CarMax-provided respiratory protection; be clean-shaven to use a half-face respirator.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete paint applications, including color matching and mixing, to achieve a quality finish.
• Perform minor repairs, including sanding and grinding, to restore vehicle surfaces.
• Prepare paint surfaces and maintain preparation standards so vehicles meet CarMax quality guidelines.
• Participate in team problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Follow standardized work processes and comply with CarMax Paint Standards.
• Maintain equipment and tools in optimal condition for safety and efficiency.
• Follow CarMax Environmental, Health and Safety requirements and keep the work area clean and orderly.
• Complete related reconditioning duties as needed.
