About The Position

As a Sr. Reconditioning Associate II, you will help ensure every vehicle meets CarMax’s paint and cosmetic standards before reaching customers. The role involves advanced paint application, including color matching and mixing, minor repairs, sanding, grinding, and paint preparation. You will also support related reconditioning duties as needed while contributing to a team focused on precision, quality, and efficiency.

Requirements

• Complete CarMax New Associate Orientation Training – Operations.
• Meet performance standards and workstation certifications for all related roles.
• Read, interpret, and record data accurately and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
• Demonstrate proficiency in color discernment and paint application techniques.
• Be physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and work indoors or outdoors in varying conditions.
• Have strong communication skills to interact effectively with customers and team members.
• Use CarMax-provided respiratory protection; be clean-shaven to use a half-face respirator.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete paint applications, including color matching and mixing for a quality finish.
• Perform minor repairs, such as sanding and grinding, to restore vehicle surfaces.
• Maintain paint preparation standards so vehicles meet CarMax quality guidelines.
• Collaborate with the team on problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Follow standardized work processes and comply with CarMax Paint Standards.
• Keep equipment and tools in optimal condition to support safety and efficiency.
• Follow CarMax Environmental, Health and Safety requirements and maintain a clean, orderly work area.
• Support related reconditioning duties as needed.

Benefits

• Up to 48 hours of paid sick time per year, accrued each pay period, for eligible full-time hourly or commission/incentive-eligible associates.
• Between 80 and 200 hours of vacation time per year after a 90-day waiting period, depending on years of continuous service, for eligible full-time hourly or commission/incentive-eligible associates.
• Eight hours of pay for each of six scheduled paid holidays per year, plus one floating holiday, for eligible full-time hourly or commission/incentive-eligible associates.
• Holiday Premium Pay when an eligible associate works on a scheduled holiday due to business need.
• Paid time away with no specified limit as needed for sick time, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, holidays, and floating holidays, subject to manager approval, for full-time salaried associates.
