About The Position

The district is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as a CTE Automotive Mechanics instructor. This role involves guiding students in developing skills in auto mechanics, facilitating a learning environment that fosters student success, and maintaining a safe shop setting. The instructor will remain knowledgeable of educational standards and strategies to meet the academic, developmental, and social-emotional needs of students, and will assess and modify instructional practices to increase student achievement. Utilizing educational technology to support instruction and learning, establishing positive relationships with students, peers, parents, and the community, and engaging students in project-based learning are key aspects of this position. The role also includes program compliance, such as CTE compliance and pupil accounting records compilation, maintenance, and submission.

Requirements

• Possess a valid CTE Michigan teaching certificate which allows the holder to instruct courses under CIP code 47.0604 OR 4000 industry related hours in the automotive industry and be willing to enroll in, and complete, a CTE program of work leading to endorsement.

• Strong instructional skills and be able to transfer those skills to students.
• Desire and familiarity with addressing the social and emotional needs of the learners.
• Recognize and embrace the assignment as part of the district professional team.

Nice To Haves

• Valid Michigan teaching certificate with an Industrial Technology (IX) or (TE) endorsement.
• ASE Automotive Certified.
• Successful prior experience utilizing technology to deliver engaging instruction.
• Successful experience working with/instructing secondary students.
• Out of the box type thinking style.
• Willingness to participate in targeted professional development and apply new knowledge, innovative instructional approaches, and district-approved platforms.
