About The Position

Koniag IT Systems, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an Automation, Tooling, & Analytics Lead to support KITS and our government customer in Washington, DC. This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Public Trust. Koniag IT Systems (KITS) is seeking a strategic Automation / Tooling / Analytics Lead with a minimum of 8 years of IT experience, including 3+ years leading automation, ITSM tooling, or analytics functions, to own the strategy and delivery of automation, service management tooling, and reporting/analytics capabilities for a federal civilian customer's enterprise IT program. The ideal candidate has driven adoption of infrastructure-as-code and event-driven automation, owns a modern ITSM platform as a strategic asset, and can translate operational data into executive-ready insights. The Automation / Tooling / Analytics Lead will be responsible for owning the strategic roadmap for automation, ITSM tooling, and reporting/analytics capabilities, leading a team of automation engineers, ITSM platform administrators, and reporting/analytics specialists, and serving as the platform owner for the ITSM tool of record.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Minimum of 8 years of IT experience, including 3+ years leading automation, ITSM tooling, or data/reporting teams
  • Demonstrated experience implementing infrastructure-as-code and automation frameworks (Terraform, Ansible, or similar) at enterprise scale
  • Hands-on or administrative-level experience with a major ITSM platform (ServiceNow strongly preferred), including workflow, CMDB, and reporting configuration
  • Experience delivering business intelligence/reporting solutions using Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent tools against operational or service management data
  • Strong understanding of ITIL 4 practices and federal IT change/configuration management processes
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience briefing program and government leadership
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a federal government IT environment
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) and/or ITIL 4 Foundation certification
  • Experience governing AI-assisted or agentic automation capabilities within an ITSM platform
  • Familiarity with FinOps practices and cloud cost management/reporting
  • Experience supporting a federal civilian financial or capital-access/loan-servicing IT program

Responsibilities

  • Own the strategic roadmap for automation, ITSM tooling, and reporting/analytics capabilities supporting enterprise infrastructure operations.
  • Lead and mentor a team of automation engineers, ITSM platform administrators, and reporting/analytics specialists.
  • Drive adoption of infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible) and event-driven, auto-remediation automation to reduce manual toil across server, cloud, storage, database, and monitoring functions.
  • Serve as the platform owner for the ITSM tool of record (e.g., ServiceNow), governing workflow design, CMDB integrity, and emerging AI/agentic automation capabilities within established security and change management guardrails.
  • Define and oversee delivery of executive and operational dashboards (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, ServiceNow Performance Analytics) that surface infrastructure health, SLA/OLA performance, and modernization progress to program and government leadership.
  • Partner with the Infrastructure & Platform Operations Lead and functional leads (server/cloud, storage/backup, database, monitoring/SRE) to identify automation and reporting opportunities across the operations lifecycle.
  • Establish governance for automation and analytics tooling, including access control, change control, and audit trail requirements aligned to NIST SP 800-53 and FedRAMP continuous monitoring (ConMon).
  • Track and report on FinOps metrics (cloud cost, utilization, and rightsizing opportunities) as part of the broader analytics portfolio.
  • Support proposal development, capability roadmaps, and staffing plans for the automation and analytics function.
