About The Position

IPL Schoeller is a leading manufacturer of sustainable rigid packaging solutions across a range of end market segments including returnable transit packaging, consumer and industrial packaging, environmental containers and agricultural packaging. The role of Automation Lead is to initiate, implement, and manage the maintenance program specific to automation, coordinate with the Operations team and maintenance manager for scheduled PM/Repair work, monitor spare parts and equipment inventories, maintain and repair automation equipment and secondary systems, and update operating and training manuals. This role also involves monitoring plant equipment and systems, initiating projects to improve efficiency and reduce costs, maintaining safety, health, and environmental policies, implementing plant cleanliness programs, supporting plant improvements and expansions, and coordinating activities with the Maintenance and Operations teams. The Automation Lead will report to the Maintenance manager for coordination of maintenance and repair work, and ensure effective interaction between maintenance activities and quality requirements, including technician participation in QA policies. Additionally, this role supports company- and plant-wide safety programs and is responsible for special projects.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years’ experience with the set up and operations of plant specific automation systems
  • Injection molding experience
  • Advanced Maintenance skills
  • Experience with large tonnage machines (4000 tons).
  • Strong understanding of OSHA Safety Standards.
  • Previous maintenance experience is required.
  • The ability to work in a high-volume work environment in a team atmosphere is essential.
  • Proficient skills in MS Office; Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Thorough understanding of the organization and work environment.
  • Has a thorough understanding of plastics materials.

Responsibilities

  • Initiates, implements, and manages the maintenance program specific to automation.
  • Coordinates with Operations team and maintenance manager to scheduled PM/Repair work.
  • Monitors the use and inventories of spare parts, and equipment and initiates reordering when necessary.
  • Maintains and repairs and maintenance of automation equipment and secondary systems.
  • Maintains and updates operating and training manuals for the maintenance department.
  • Monitors operation of plant equipment and systems.
  • Initiates and carries out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
  • Maintains safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Implement programs and procedures required to ensure plant cleanliness.
  • Support the Plant Operations Department by planning and implementing plant improvements and expansions.
  • Coordinates activities with Maintenance and Operations team.
  • Reports directly with the Maintenance manager to coordinate maintenance and repair work in process areas.
  • Communicates directly with the Maintenance manager to ensure effective interaction between maintenance activities and quality requirements, including participation by the maintenance technicians in the implementation of QA policies and procedures.
  • Supports company- and plant-wide safety programs by providing technical expertise/support and training.
  • Responsible for special projects and other duties as assigned.
