Automation Test Engineer
About The Position
As an Automation Test Engineer, you will ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of mobile applications through automated and manual testing. The role focuses on mobile test automation, Agile delivery practices, quality engineering, test strategy development, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality experiences across iOS and Android platforms. You will design and maintain mobile automation suites, perform a range of manual and automated testing, manage defects, develop test plans, and report quality metrics. You will also coordinate QA activities across distributed teams, support and mentor colleagues, contribute to continuous improvement, and communicate quality risks and testing progress to stakeholders and leadership.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with Appium for mobile automation testing.
- Proficiency in Java or another object-oriented programming language.
- Experience with XCUI (iOS) and/or Espresso (Android) testing frameworks.
- Experience using test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira, Zephyr, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies, ceremonies, and delivery processes.
- Knowledge of mobile application development lifecycles for iOS and Android platforms.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing integration.
- 3–5 years of mobile application testing experience, with at least 3 years focused on test automation.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to coordinate distributed teams and work effectively in collaborative environments.
- Self-motivation and ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test suites using Appium for mobile applications.
- Leverage and enhance existing XCUI (iOS) and Espresso (Android) automation frameworks.
- Perform manual, regression, smoke, functional, and post-deployment testing across mobile platforms.
- Identify, document, track, and escalate defects with clear reproduction steps and impact analysis.
- Develop comprehensive test plans, test cases, and quality validation strategies.
- Analyze complex quality issues and independently implement effective testing solutions.
- Coordinate testing activities across onshore and offshore QA teams.
- Mentor team members on automation tools, testing methodologies, and Agile best practices.
- Monitor and report quality metrics, including test coverage, defect trends, and release readiness.
- Continuously improve testing frameworks, automation processes, and quality standards.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with developers, product owners, project stakeholders, and business teams.
- Communicate quality risks, project status, and testing progress to stakeholders and leadership teams.
- Represent QA initiatives in release meetings and project status discussions.
