About The Position

Responsible for the complete subrogation process of investigation, negotiation and settlement of auto claims that have been identified to have subrogation potential. This role requires navigating proprietary databases, understanding various auto subrogation claims, staying current on relevant laws, and maintaining accurate documentation. The specialist will also engage in extensive communication with clients, attorneys, and other parties, demonstrating strong customer service and conflict management skills. A team-focused and goal-oriented approach is essential, along with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and computer proficiency.

Requirements

  • Experience and education to appropriately handle auto subrogation files of moderate to high complexity.
  • Thorough knowledge of all types of auto subrogation claims to include commercial auto, medical payments, personal injury protection and product liability.
  • Awareness of laws that govern insurance claims by keeping current on critical case laws, statutes and trends in the field of subrogation.
  • Accomplished communication skills with a strong phone presence.
  • Ability to handle difficult conversations and exhibit conflict management skills.
  • Ability to work within a team environment in a positive and cooperative manner.
  • Production and results oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Complete the subrogation process of investigation, negotiation, and settlement of auto claims.
  • Navigate proprietary databases and electronic documents to process and resolve claims with subrogation potential.
  • Place adverse carriers on notice of intent to subrogate.
  • Negotiate settlements or liability based on a percentage when necessary or when liability is questionable.
  • Evaluate claims to decide if they should be referred to arbitration, suit, or collections.
  • Prepare claims for inter-company proceedings or legal forwarding.
  • Recommend the closure of claims with no subrogation potential.
  • Handle auto subrogation files of moderate to high complexity.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of all types of auto subrogation claims (commercial auto, medical payments, personal injury protection, product liability).
  • Maintain awareness of laws governing insurance claims, keeping current on case laws, statutes, and trends in subrogation.
  • Manage the application of knowledge to maximize recovery efforts.
  • Maintain certifications and licensures where applicable.
  • Prioritize and appropriately document all activities for recovery.
  • Document files to include conversations, correspondence, file updates, subrogation analysis, resolution recommendations, and applicable state laws.
  • Maintain diaries to be current and set timely and specific diaries for follow-up and correspondence.
  • Communicate extensively with insurance company clients, attorneys, law enforcement agencies, and insureds.
  • Handle difficult conversations and exhibit conflict management skills.
  • Assist internal and external customers with the resolution of moderately complex questions.
  • Work within a team environment in a positive and cooperative manner.
  • Consistently perform at or above given goals for recovery, file quality, and resolution timeliness.
