Auto Shop Student Assistant

About The Position
The Auto Shop Student Assistant supports the University Auto Mechanic in maintaining the University’s fleet of more than 40 vehicles and its heavy equipment. The work includes general equipment maintenance and care, shop and inventory organization, picking up parts, and taking vehicles to DEQ. The position works Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Requirements
- Ability to think through and solve problems in real time.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive University vehicles on campus.
- Consent to a driving record background check.
- Ability to learn and follow safety policies and procedures.
Nice To Haves
- Mechanical aptitude and interest.
- Previous experience with basic vehicle or motorized equipment maintenance.
- Previous experience using basic hand tools.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Auto Mechanic with general equipment maintenance and care.
- Help organize the shop and inventory.
- Drive to pick up parts.
- Take vehicles to DEQ.
