About The Position

The General Service Technician performs basic automotive services, including mounting and balancing tires, repairing tires, changing oil, and conducting vehicle inspections. The role requires mechanical aptitude and a focus on delivering an excellent customer experience. The technician maintains clean, safe, and organized work areas and may advise customers about recommended or required automotive services and repairs. The technician learns to diagnose and repair basic automotive systems and keeps up with changing automotive technology through formal training.

Requirements

Valid driver's license.
Passion for a career as a technician in the automotive industry.
Eagerness to learn and a competitive drive to succeed.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
High school diploma or GED.
Availability to work days, nights, holidays, and weekends as needed.
Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
Ability to meet the role's physical demands, including frequent lifting of heavy equipment weighing more than 100 pounds.

Responsibilities

Learn to diagnose and repair basic automotive systems and services, including brakes, alignments, suspensions, cooling, and electrical systems.
Participate in formal training to learn new technical information and techniques and stay current with changing automotive technology.
Change engine oil and filters.
Install tires and perform tire maintenance.
Install batteries and check starting and charging systems.
Install headlights and other small bulbs.
Repair flat tires.
Install wiper blades.
Stock and unload tires.
Assist fellow technicians and mechanics with technical activities.
Keep store management informed of mechanical repair problems as they arise.
Clean and maintain an organized and neat shop.
Follow company policies, procedures, and safety and environmental rules.
Provide customers with advice about recommended or required automotive services and repairs when needed.
