About The Position

The General Service Technician performs basic automotive services, including mounting and balancing tires, tire repairs, oil changes, and vehicle inspections, while providing an excellent customer experience. The role requires mechanical aptitude and includes maintaining clean and safe work areas in the tire and service department. The technician may also advise customers and sell them recommended or required automotive services and repairs. The technician learns to diagnose and repair basic automotive systems, keeps up with changing automotive technology through training, and assists other technicians with technical work. The role requires adherence to company policies, procedures, and safety and environmental rules.

Requirements

Valid driver's license.
Passion for a career as an automotive technician.
Eagerness to learn and a competitive drive to succeed.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
High school diploma or GED.
Availability to work days, nights, holidays, and weekends as needed.
Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.

Responsibilities

Learn to diagnose and repair basic automotive systems, including brakes, alignments, suspensions, cooling, and electrical systems.
Attend formal training sessions and continuously learn new technical information and techniques.
Change engine oil and filters.
Install tires and perform tire maintenance.
Install batteries and check starting and charging systems.
Install headlights and other small bulbs.
Repair flat tires.
Install wiper blades.
Stock and unload tires.
Assist fellow technicians and mechanics with technical activities.
Keep store management informed of mechanical repair problems as they occur.
Clean and maintain an organized and neat shop.
Follow company policies, procedures, safety rules, and environmental rules.
Provide advice to customers and sell recommended or required automotive services and repairs when needed.
