M&J Auto Body Services is seeking an Auto Body Paint Prepper to join its collision repair team in Van Nuys, California. This hands-on role prepares vehicles for painting and supports paint technicians in producing high-quality finishes. Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience in auto body paint preparation or a similar role in a body shop or collision center.
• Strong knowledge of automotive surface preparation techniques, including sanding, priming, and masking.
• Familiarity with auto body repair tools and materials, such as sanders, primers, and masking supplies.
• Attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and commitment to safety standards.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual in Spanish and English.
• Vocational training in auto body repair.

Responsibilities

• Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting by sanding, masking, cleaning, and applying primer.
• Wash vehicles to remove dirt, oil, grease, and debris from painted surfaces, and identify and remove panel imperfections before painting.
• Assist paint technicians with material preparation and booth setup, and keep equipment and work areas clean.
• Review repair orders before beginning work and complete paint preparation processes, including priming, edging, or jamming replacement parts as needed.
• Mask parts that are not to be painted or coated to protect surrounding areas during refinishing.
