Audiology Assistant
About The Position
Audiology Assistants are responsible for providing assistance to audiology providers in the direct and indirect care of audiology patients. This role functions clinically as support staff to licensed audiologists and is responsible for performing patient and clinic-related duties within established protocols to support the diagnostic evaluation, management, treatment, education, and care of patients with hearing and balance-related conditions. This position performs standardized audiologic testing support activities, assists in clinic workflow management, and ensures timely and accurate documentation of clinical data and provider-directed information in the patient record. The Audiology Assistant plays an active role in supporting patient throughput and operational efficiency while maintaining compliance with clinical standards and scope of practice.

Responsibilities
- Assist patients with hearing aid Bluetooth connectivity and related technology concerns.
- Assist with workflow coordination to ensure timely patient flow and documentation.
- Conduct 30-day post-fitting hearing aid follow-up visits.
- Conduct newborn hearing screenings in accordance with established protocols.
- Maintain accurate documentation to support timely billing and compliance.
- Manage hearing aid problem-focused appointments, including fit adjustments and maintenance re-education.
- Manage same-day add-on and walk-in appointments (average 55–70 per month at the Mattoon location).
- Manually enter appointment and supply charges not processed through Cerner.
- Obtain earmold impressions for custom molds and swim plugs.
- Order diagnostic supplies and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
- Order hearing aid parts and supplies from manufacturers and vendors.
- Perform annual audiograms for established patients under audiologist supervision.
- Perform tympanograms and audiograms for ENT providers.
- Prepare and maintain required documentation for hearing aid fittings, including purchase agreements, charge tickets, and Good Faith Estimates (GFE).
- Provide hearing aid repair follow-up care and troubleshooting.
- Provide patient counseling and education during hearing aid fitting appointments.
- Receive, track, inspect, and prepare incoming hearing aids and components for new patient fittings.
- Represent the Audiology department in administrative meetings and assist with preparation as requested.
- Stock and organize audiology booths, fitting rooms, and supply areas.
