About The Position

St. Louis Children's Hospital has a year-long externship opportunity for a student in the fourth year of a clinical audiology doctorate (AuD) program. Under the guidance of an experienced audiologist, the student will develop and refine clinical knowledge and skills for professional practice while supporting the daily functions of the Audiology Department. The role includes clinical opportunities involving pediatric patients with known or suspected hearing loss and newborn hearing screenings in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Requirements

Must be a student in the fourth year of a clinical audiology doctorate (AuD) program.
High school diploma or GED.
No experience required.

Responsibilities

Assist audiologists during pediatric hearing evaluations and rehabilitative audiology appointments, including testing, diagnosing, and treating patients with known or suspected hearing loss.
Administer and interpret newborn hearing screenings in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Complete documentation and reports on audiologic findings, and organize and prepare paperwork for scanning into the medical record and for mailing or faxing to other professionals.
Restock, order, organize, and dispense equipment needed for the clinic and patients, such as otoscope tips, hearing aid batteries, and cochlear implant coils.
Maintain patient care areas by picking up and cleaning toys and equipment, performing listening checks, and calibrating testing equipment.
