About The Position

Chesterfield Fire and EMS is seeking a full-time Audio-Visual Production Specialist to provide technical support to all divisions within the Fire and EMS Department, Police Department, and other County departments as needed. This role includes designing and producing audio-visual media, offering computer and program development assistance, performing digital photography, utilizing production-quality editing systems, and coordinating the production of various ceremonies. The specialist will also produce high-quality multimedia content and collaborate with the Technical Services Unit (TSU), Public Information Manager, and operational personnel to ensure effective delivery of media, messaging, and instructional content across the organization. The Audio-Visual Production Specialist will work in office, classrooms, training facilities and occasional field environments. This position may require standing, lifting, bending and transporting equipment. Flexibility in scheduling may be required to support departmental operations. Under general supervision of the Training Division Captain, this position will: Provide technical support for classroom and Public Safety Training Center A/V systems Troubleshoot and maintain Clickshare, Crestron, Windows/macOS, and related equipment Operate projectors, displays, audio systems, production cameras, lighting, and teleprompters Capture and produce photos, videos, training programs, and weekly Crime Solvers Tip videos Set up A/V and recording equipment for interviews, training, classes, and special events Edit and produce multimedia content using Adobe Creative Cloud Design and produce A/V programs for Fire, Police, and other county agencies Support sound and media needs for ceremonies, groundbreakings, ribbon cuttings, and presentations Direct and produce graduations, awards ceremonies, and other departmental events Create and distribute Fire Department Access IDs with General Services Set up and break down classroom partitions, tables, and chairs Perform routine maintenance, arrange repairs, and manage media archives and consumables Collaborate with PIO staff, instructors, and leadership to plan and deliver content Perform other work as required.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in communication, journalism, or a related field; two years of experience in planning, directing, developing and producing audio/visual productions; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Knowledge of video editing software, digital content creation tools, and general audiovisual production is required.
  • Candidates should have working knowledge of audio-video production principles and be proficient in operating video, audio, photographic, and recording studio equipment; computer systems; audiovisual tools; and multiple editing software programs.
  • The role requires creativity, strong time management, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Knowledge of television or internet production, editing, and graphics is expected.
  • Applicants must be able to lift and transport at least 50 pounds of audiovisual equipment, travel between county facilities as needed, and be willing and able to obtain an FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate.
  • Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required.
  • Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation as defined by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months, or a DMV record point balance of less than negative one.
  • Out-of-state driving records must be obtained by the applicant and presented at the time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of the interview date.
  • Pre-employment drug testing, FBI background check, and education/degree verification required.
