About The Position

National Network Services (NNS) is seeking a skilled Audio Visual (AV) Field Engineer (Levels 1-3) to join our growing team. This role is responsible for installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning professional audio, video, lighting, and control systems for commercial customers throughout the United States. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with AV systems, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to travel while supporting high-profile customer installations. The Field Engineer is responsible for the technical execution, validation, commissioning, and closeout of commercial Audio Visual (AV) installation projects. This role supports AVIXA-aligned best practices and ensures systems are delivered in accordance with approved designs, performance standards, and client expectations.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass background checks and drug screening if required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to work on ladders, lifts, and scaffolding.
  • Comfortable working in ceilings, crawl spaces, and construction environments.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable, punctual, and organized.
  • Willingness to travel to job sites and occasionally work overtime as project schedules require.
  • Demonstrated experience in commercial AV systems engineering
  • Proficiency with CAD platforms and AV documentation workflows
  • Strong understanding of signal flow, control systems, DSP, networking, and commissioning
  • Knowledge of AVIXA standards, including ANSI/INFOCOMM guidelines
  • 1–2 years of commercial AV or related technical experience (Field Engineer I)
  • 3–6 years of commercial AV engineering or systems integration experience (Field Engineer II)
  • 7+ years of commercial AV engineering experience, including complex or enterprise-scale systems (Senior Field Engineer)
  • CTS certification required (Field Engineer II)
  • CTS-D certification required (Senior Field Engineer)
  • CTS, CTS-I, and CTS-D certification preferred or actively pursuing (Field Engineer I)

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 10 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
  • CTS-I or progress toward CTS-D preferred (Field Engineer II)
  • CTS-I acceptable depending on role focus (Senior Field Engineer)

Responsibilities

  • Validate Bills of Materials (BOM) against approved design documents, scope, and site conditions
  • Review, markup, and accept shop drawings prior to installation
  • Manage initial CAD handoff documentation for field execution
  • Support commissioning plans, functional testing, and performance verification
  • Develop and execute programming task lists and schedules
  • Assist with or perform control system, DSP, and network-based AV programming
  • Develop end-user training guides and operational documentation
  • Conduct or support final system training for end users
  • Produce final project closeout documentation including as-built drawings
  • Ensure compliance with AVIXA standards, safety requirements, and quality benchmarks
  • Supports senior engineers and project teams during installation and commissioning (Field Engineer I)
  • Performs BOM validation and documentation updates under supervision (Field Engineer I)
  • Assists with shop set reviews and CAD redlines (Field Engineer I)
  • Executes defined programming tasks with guidance (Field Engineer I)
  • Supports system testing and troubleshooting (Field Engineer I)
  • Participates in end-user training sessions (Field Engineer I)
  • Independently manages BOM validation and shop drawing acceptance (Field Engineer II)
  • Leads CAD handoff documentation and as-built updates (Field Engineer II)
  • Coordinates commissioning activities and functional testing (Field Engineer II)
  • Develops programming schedules and executes system programming (Field Engineer II)
  • Serves as a technical point of contact for installers and project managers (Field Engineer II)
  • Leads portions of end-user training (Field Engineer II)
  • Owns technical execution for complex or multi-system projects (Senior Field Engineer)
  • Reviews and approves engineering documentation and shop sets (Senior Field Engineer)
  • Develops commissioning strategies aligned with CTS-D methodologies (Senior Field Engineer)
  • Oversees programming architecture, standards, and quality control (Senior Field Engineer)
  • Mentors junior engineers and provides technical leadership (Senior Field Engineer)
  • Leads final client training and system acceptance (Senior Field Engineer)
  • Ensures full compliance with AVIXA CTS-D standards and best practices (Senior Field Engineer)
