About The Position

This is a part-time student position at Texas Performing Arts, open to both Work-Study and Non-Work Study students. The position offers real-world experience in a non-profit arts presenter, with opportunities for advancement, wage increases, and growth in responsibilities, as well as professional development support. Texas Performing Arts (TPA) is the nation’s largest and most active university-based performing arts center, operating venues like Bass Concert Hall and presenting Broadway shows, international performances, and national touring artists. Education is central to TPA's mission, serving K-12 students and the 55,000 students at UT Austin. The Student Audio Assistant will provide audio services for Texas Performing Arts Academic Production events and performances. This position may also be eligible to count as an academic internship.

Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of software based media applications (i.e. ProTools, Q-Lab, etc).
  • Experience mixing live sound.
  • Knowledge of audio consoles, microphones, cabling, connector types.

Responsibilities

  • Clean cables, microphones, and stands.
  • Set up cables, microphones, stands, speakers and intercom.
  • Strike all equipment and return to proper storage area.
  • Represent Texas Performing Arts with a pleasant and professional demeanor through all interactions.
  • Arrive on time for work and maintain a reliable attendance record.
  • Wear close-toed shoes or work boots.
  • Lifting and moving of 50 pounds or more.
  • Work from heights and in confined spaces.
  • Practice professional customer service skills.
