About The Position

This is a part-time student position at Texas Performing Arts, open to both Work-Study and Non-Work Study students. The position offers real-world experience in a non-profit arts presenter, with opportunities for advancement, wage increases, and growth in responsibilities, as well as professional development opportunities and support. Texas Performing Arts (TPA) at the University of Texas at Austin is a large university-based performing arts center that presents Broadway shows, international seasons of dance, theater, and music, and hosts national touring artists. TPA is also deeply involved in education, serving K-12 students and UT Austin students. The Student Audio Assistant will provide audio services for Texas Performing Arts Academic Production events and performances. This position may be eligible to count as an academic internship.

Nice To Haves

Working knowledge of software based media applications (i.e. ProTools, Q-Lab, etc).
Experience mixing live sound.
Knowledge of audio consoles, microphones, cabling, connector types.

Responsibilities

Clean cables, microphones, and stands.
Set up cables, microphones, stands, speakers and intercom.
Strike all equipment and return to proper storage area.
Represent Texas Performing Arts with a pleasant and professional demeanor through all interactions.
Arrive on time for work and maintain a reliable attendance record.
Wear close-toed shoes or work boots.
Lifting and moving of 50 pounds or more.
Work from heights and in confined spaces.
Practice professional customer service skills.
