The General Services Attendant safely transports patients and visitors between the emergency department entrance and designated self-parking spaces, and enforces parking rules so those spaces are used by ED patients and visitors. During downtime, the attendant provides additional support for normal business operations. As an initial point of contact for patients and visitors arriving on campus, the attendant provides professional, courteous, respectful, and helpful service. Duties include verifying appointments, coordinating with practice colleagues to confirm appointment details, applying visitor and entrance policies, following screening scripts and processes, greeting people, and helping them navigate Mayo Clinic facilities. The attendant monitors patient and visitor flow in designated buildings, remains composed in stressful situations, and works to de-escalate conflict. Additional duties may include assisting with wheelchair and stretcher transportation, giving directions, delivering specimens, handling special pickups and deliveries for internal departments and off-site facilities, driving Mayo Clinic vehicles for courier runs, and shuttling employees between the Hospital, Clinic, and Regional Practices. The position may have view-only access to the electronic health record to help verify information. Hours may vary and include days, evenings, holidays, and weekends, with rotating days off.
