This position is responsible for monitoring student attendance, dropout retrieval, and serving as the division’s attendance officer. The role requires a high school diploma, some college coursework, and 1-2 years of experience with at-risk youth, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of one year of customer service experience and a valid driver's license are also required. The Attendance Technician will act as the school representative to parents, students, and court officials regarding unexcused absences, schedule and facilitate attendance conferences, and review attendance guidelines. Responsibilities include inputting and retrieving attendance data, generating truancy reports, reconciling attendance data, and preparing various attendance-related documents. The role involves communicating with parents/guardians about absences, operating a computer with various software applications, and explaining applicable laws and regulations. The technician will also present lawful documentation to Juvenile and Circuit Courts, file petitions against non-compliant parents/guardians, and provide accurate documentation to Juvenile Courts. Maintaining confidentiality of student information, monitoring attendance for habitual truancy, and performing home visits for truant students are key duties. The position requires punctual and consistent attendance and participation in weekly prevention meetings with court and community professionals. The role operates under the general supervision of a Senior Coordinator of Student Support Services and includes other assigned duties.
