About The Position

Assist with the coordination of medical coverage for home and away contest, including scheduling of student and graduate assistant athletic trainers. Athletic Trainer Responsibilities include: Prevention of athletic injuries and illnesses. Evaluation of athletic injuries. Treatment of athletic injuries. Counseling and education of student athletes. Athletic Training Administrative duties.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Health/Physical Education, Sports Medicine/Kinesiology, or Athletic Training.
• Post Graduate Athletic Training Experience.
• Certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Board of Certification and/or American Physical Therapy Association.
• Licensed by the state of Oklahoma as an athletic trainer prior to hire.
• Extensive knowledge in OSHA guidelines and universal precautions.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Knowledge of NCAA Rules and guidelines.
• Knowledge and understanding of guidelines in the NCAA Sports Medicine Handbook.
• Must be able to lift in excess of 100 lbs.
• Extensive amount of time standing per day.
• Must be able to deal with heat and changing weather precautions.
• Knowledge of NCAA Rules and Regulations.
• Experience and knowledge of organizing strength programs, especially for injured student athletes.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree in Health/Physical Education, Athletic Training, or Physical Therapy.
• Experience working with Athletic Trainer/Physical Therapist.
• Preferred Certification by NASM as PES, or by NSCA as CSCS.
• Experience with aquatic rehabilitation.
• Experience with teaching clinical and practice skills in CAHEP approved Athletic Education Program.
